Live Music Sundays: Modern Day Moonshine @ Liberty Public Market Patio

With a catalog of original songs that reaches well into the hundreds, MDM jump genres and fuse styles on a dime, all while maintaining a distinct soulful sound that can only be identified as their own. Over the course of 6 years, over 600 gigs, and 4 studio albums, the trio have developed a sound that calls on the soulful sounds of the greats from the late sixties and early seventies.

‘Despite the variety of styles, one doesn’t get the impression that you listen to more than only one band. MODERN DAY MOONSHINE have a strong identity, resulting in an extremely cohesive album. The opener ‘Unsung’ brings back memories of Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, but the following track ‘Expiration Date’ is heading in a different direction. It’s a powerful combination of funk and jazz where they prove that they easily master both styles. For these reasons, MODERN DAY MOONSHINE doesn’t sound like a white band who are trying to imitate a black funk band.’

Live Music Sundays: Bill Magee Blues @ Liberty Public Market Patio

Jimi Hendrix was playing as Jimmy James when Willie (Bill) Magee met, befriended and eventually joined up with Hendrix to form the band “Jimmy James and the Flames.” In 1967, Hendrix went to England, and Magee took his newly formed band, the “Kansas City Playboys” on a tour around Europe.

The rest is history…now after a brief hiatus Bill Magee has felt the pull of the blues once again and come out of retirement. Catch a performance of his and see the best of Southern Blues music.

Cheese Class: Curd is the Word @ Venissimo (Liberty Public Market)

Two of Italy’s most famous fresh cheeses are ricotta & mozzarella, both of which can be made easily at home!

Come join monger & instructor RobbyG & learn how to make these classics.  He’ll teach all about the separation of curds from whey & what makes mozz stretch.  Then you’ll get your chance to stretch curd yourself & form balls (it’s tricky).  The truly adventurous can try to make burrata too!  Once you see how easy & delicious it is to make fresh ricotta, you’ll never buy packaged again.

And of course, you’ll sample lots of goodies & complimentary glass of wine along the way & take what you make home for later.

Also enjoy a 10% discount off any in-store cheese purchases the night of the class.
